Problem Solving Skills Test

This problem solving ability test was built to close that gap. It does not ask candidates to describe past solutions. It puts them inside current situations and watches how they think. A process that has broken down mid-task. A complaint with no obvious resolution. A decision that has to be made before all the information arrives.

What separates strong problem solvers from average ones is not intelligence in any narrow sense. It is slowing down enough to identify the actual problem before reaching for a solution. Considering more than one approach before committing. Knowing when to act on incomplete information and when gathering more is worth the delay. A brilliant abstract thinker who cannot turn reasoning into action is less useful than someone whose thinking is plainer but consistently produces something that works on Monday morning.

For organisations hiring at campus or volume scale, this problem solving skills test surfaces what grades cannot. Strong academic performance does not reliably predict workplace reasoning. Someone who thrived in a structured exam may freeze when the problem has no correct answer, and someone with an unremarkable record may turn out to be the clearest practical thinker in the room.

For candidates, the experience tends to be an honest one. Most people have a fair sense of their general intelligence and a much weaker sense of how they think under real pressure. Some find they chase the elegant solution when the situation needed a quick one. Others find they spot problems well but struggle to generate answers.
